PRESENTATION OF PRIZES
His Excellency Lord Islington, on the conclusion of play, presented the prizes to the successful competitors. He said that when he had left New Zealand he would look back, with pleasure to his two years' golf in Wellington. He had greatly enjoyed witnessing the games, and he congratulated Mr. Wood on his excellent play. He (Lord Islington) would very much liked to have presented a prize to himself. In fact, he nearly did have to do so. It was his own fault that he did not, for had he but contributed his small quota to Mr. A. Duncan's excellent play in the four-ball match they would nave won. His Excellency made some references to Mr. Arthur Duncan, and said that this time it was Ohristchttrch who could sing a pseafe of victory. He thought Mr. Duncan had had a great innings, and would again win in years to come.
