RUGBY

v BANKS' MATCH. A match was played at Athletic Park yesterday afternoon between a team from the National and New Zealand Banks t and one from the Australasian, Union of Australia, and New South Wales Banks. A fairly good game ended in a win for the New Zealand representatives by 6 points to 3. Tries were scored for the winners by Morris and Gardner, and Tennant crossed the line for the losers. For New Zealand Arm. strong, De Latour, ,and Morris played well, also Dv Flou, who played a sound defensive game. Reed, Smith, and Reeves were the mainstay of Australia. Mr. W. Drake was referee. In the l evening the teams held a smoke concert at (|odber's rooms, Mr. M'Lean, chief inspector of the National Bank of New Zealand, presiding over a large attendance. Messrs. Boyant, Gandy, Phipps, Major. Connors, Hickson, Phelps, and Dewhurst contributed items to the evening's enjoyment. Mr. D. Morris was accompanist.
