She encountered a hurricane on 19th September. Her ' deck fittings were washed away, the ladies' i saloon cabin stoVe-in, and the officers' quarters flooded to a, considerable depth. The starboard gangway was broken from its lashings and washed over the charthonse into the sea. A temporary bathroom and washhouse on deck was also washed overboard. The skylights were smashed, and some plates of the ■freezer bent.
