TITANIC ENQUIRY.
EVIDENCE BEFORE "ENGLISH COURT. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 4th May. The special Admiralty Court of Enquiry into the loss of the White Star liner Titanic began taking evidence yesterday. Jewell, one of the look-out men, gave evidence that he received a telephone message from the bridge of the Titanic at 9.30 on Sunday night, 14th April, instructing him to keep a sharp watch for ice. He repeated the order to the man who relieved him. Scarrott, a seaman, stated that it ' was a difficult matter for the thirdclass passengers to reach the boatdeck. Two ladders afforded the only means of approach from that portion of the ship.
