MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Mr. W. G. Hiddeil, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Alice Brown, alias Graham, charged with being an incorrigible rogue, wa* sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Mary and Margaret M'Gowan, charged with .being^ idle and disorderly persons, were convjettd and ordered to come uo for sentence when called on. An old man named Archibald Henry was remanded until to-morrow morning on a charge of drunkenness. Two first offenders were dealt with. Charles Henry Brown was fined 40<s for indecency. The alternative was seven days' detention. Frederick George Smith, a seaman on the -Turakina, charged with disobeying the lawful commands of his officer ans with deserting from tho vessel, was remanded to appear at thu Bluff, where the Turakina is now lying. For breaches of his prohibition order, Jabez Wooldridge wae penalised in the sum of £4. with costs (14s). Herbert Thompson and Edward May were each fined £3, with costs (9s), for using obscene language. The alternative was fourteen days' imprisonment. Penalties ranging from 9s to 12s were imposed on Wflham Beleham, James Burns, J. Castle, Jtmn Maxwell, Frank Morton, Emma Wilkes, and Henty Wilkes for failing to send their children to school.
