PEOPOSED OIL BORING PLANT To be introduced for She BONITHON FREEHOLD PROPERTY, TARANAHI. 1012 PARKER-MOGUL 20-SNCH ROTARY Weight 7.300 pounds, 6^-inch diameter Mandrels, 122-inch diameter Grip Kings, 3-inch cicculai' Pitch Gear Teeth, 3-inch diameter Rotary Screws, Sg-incn diameter Rotary Shaft Bearings Locking Dogs, Chain Guide, recessed base represent important features of this 1912 special 20-inch Extra Heavy Rotary, for depths up to 5,000 fegt or for very large diameter holes. ADVANTAGES of the PARKER ROTARY BRIBING SYSTEM. Ist.— The importanco of ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE in tho matter of formation in drilling, before it is necessary to sot pipe or casing in the liolo^ will be readily appreciated by producers and prospectors, especially in what is called .WILDCAT DRILLING, vhen seeking oil or gas. With the Rotary System of drilling, prospecting or DRILLING AHEAD to ascertain the formation 'm which lo cet casing or to locate artesian water stratas, showings of GAS or OJL. before it is necessary to finif.h the hole, is accomplished by using a small bit and drill stem, driving a SMALL HOLE AHEAD. This gives tin) producer pvact information, without any danger of mistake, as to the proper location for Getting casing. THIS CANNOT BE DONS WITH CABLE TOOLS ' ' 2nd.— Tiie drilling of a well with the ROTARY SYSTEM, avoiding the setting of pipe until hole is carried down to tho depth desired, will save on an average of neartv $0 per cenL. oi pipo compared with percussion drilling methods. 3an.— ln drilling with' tho ROTAEY SYSTEM the bore hoJo is made LARGE ENOUGH to sen casing, without requiring under-reaming or driving of pipo. - -4tMi— ln Rotary drilling the use of LEAD SEALS and TELESCOPE SETTING of pipe for a given depth practically finishes the hole with an equal number of feet. 'of pipe to st toot of depth of well. ' ' ■ sth.— NO COLLAPSING of drive shoea, NO STICKING OF PIPE or casing i\hen being set, NO CONSTANT MOVING OF PIPE to prevent sticking, as required iv percussion or cable tool method of drilling, is necessary when drilling with a ROTARY. 6th. — The use of a T.HICK column of MUD, when boring with the Rotary System, sustains the walls of the bore hole, prevents shattering, caving or sloughiug, so prevalent when drilling through soft formations, with percussion or Cable Tools. The Eotary System of drilling makes a perfectly round hole, docs not disturb the walls of the formation and the constant pressure of the column of THICK MUD sustains the walls perfectly until you are ready to set casing. 7th. — In shale, clay, sand and gravel beds, so difficult to drill with cable tools, the Rotary System of drilling is the only practical method at any economical cost, to drill through such formation. The absorption in loose- sand and gravel, under pressure of sufficient quantity of mud, WALLS OFF theso stratas and PREVENTS CAVING. When drilling into an oil sand, before setting tho KEYSTONE WELL SCREEN, euch mud as has been absorbed in tho oil sand is WASHED OUT. Only in very lare instances is it necessary to set any casing through a sand, gravel bed, or artesian water flow, before finishing tho well complete. Bth. — The saving in pipe cost over tho Tieavy weights required for drive pipe, used in percussion drilling, is an important item, sustaining the walls of the bore hole, with a thick column of mud and boring a hole oi ample size to subsequently set pipe with tho Rotary is much more economical than thci Cable Tool System of drilling in most formations. 9th.— The PARKER BLOW-OUT PREVENTER in connection with the Eotary 'System of drilling protects against the' loss of a well from high gas or oil pressure or caving from artesian water flows or heaving sand. YOU CANNOT DO THESE THINGS WITH CABLE TOOLS 10th.— The KEYSTONE WELL SCREEN or strainer prevents the heaving of sand, prevents caving of formation above tho oil sand, provides a perfect pumping proposition for any loose oil sand formation. 11th.— More than TWO HUNDRED MILLION BARRELS of oil have been produced within the past ten years in the oil fields of Texas, Louisiana and California (U.S.A.), and MANY MILLION BARRELS of oil in Mexico, Dutch East Indies and other (sections,, from, wells drilled with Rotary .tools. '„„ 12tH. — In any formation: containing stratas of rock, th-e special tools* .and appliances shown under the title of CORE HEADS, COP.E BARRELS, SPECIAL BITS, etc., enables successful drilling of rock strata, either by coring or otherwise without having to set pipe and change over to cable tools advisable in cases where tho percentage of jock is' not greater than the softer formations. In many instances the Rotary System is used to great advantage in drilling from the surface down to a depth of 2,000 or 2,500 feet through shales, clays and caving material, at which depth la,rge pipe is set and then when advisable, depending on the hardness of the formation, a combination outfit is used, the balance of tn© drilling being finished with percussion tools. This practice is in vogue quite largely in California and Mexico. 13ih. — The Rotary System of drilling is being rapidly rind widely adopted by experienced operators throughout the world WHO HAVE HAD THEIR TROUBLES WITH OTHER METHODS. Tho ROTARY system of boring is not an experiment but a thoroughly efficient RAPID and PRACTICAL method ' of BORING for GAS, OIL or WATER, where the time of drilling and cost of material is an item. Send us a log or section of your bore holes and we will be pleased to point out other marked advantages of the ROTARY SYSTEM. The Bonithon Freehold Petroleum Company Extended, Limited, having raised sufficient capital to secure . a Rotary Boring Plant for Taranaki are prepared to receive applications for a limited number of shares, not exceeding iooo. Applications to be made at the Company's office, Bank ChamLambton Quay. William McLean, Secretary.
