The following vessels should be within wireless range of Wellington to-day :— Aorangi (Sydney to Wellington), Ulimaroa (Sydney to Wellington), Victoria (Auckland to Sydney), Manuka (Bluff to Hobart), Rotorua (Hobart to Wellington), Wtmmera (Auckland to Gisborne). THE ULIMAROA. The utility of the local wireless station is more evident as time passes, and of late oome really creditable, work has been done from the Post Office tower. This morning early a communication was received from the Ulimaroa on her way from Sydney. She signalled to the effect that she would arri\d at Wellington at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday. At noon yesterday the vessel was 900 miles from this port. RAKAIA, FROM CANADA. ' The New Zealand Shipping Company's s.s. Rakaia arrived in port yesterday from Montreal, via Australian ports nnd Auckland. The vessel berthed at No. 14, Jervois-quay, where she will discharge Wellington cargo prior to leaving for Lyttelton. and Dunedin to-morrow morning. After visiting these two places the Rakaia g063 to Oamaru, Picton, Waitara, and other ports <o Idad. She i& fc* sail finally from Auckland on her return trip. Captain E. Dunn, lately chief of the Rotorua,*is in command, and he has with him the following officers ;— Chief, Mr A. Martin; second, Mr C. P. Cotton-Stapleton ; third, Mr P. P. Melsome; fourth, Mr T. W. Humphries f Mr J,' S, Skaklo is chief engineer, Mr T. Woodall second, Mr R, McLeod £hifd, Mr G. Mervyn fourth, and Mr W. McLelland fifth. Mr Montgomery is chief refrigerating engineer, and Mr Pescod second.. On the voyage from the Canadian port? to Melbourne a record performance for the Rakaia was registered. She did the 12,057 miles in 45£ days. RUAPEHU, FOR LONDON. The R.M.S. Ituapehu arrived hi port yesterday afternoon fr6m Napier to complete her Homeward loading. At noon on Thursday next the line>- leaves for London, where she should arrive about the 21st March. STAR OF SCOTLAND. From New York, via way ports, the steamer Star of Scotland arrived in AVellington yesterday morning. The vessel berthed at the Queen's Wharf, where 700 tons of cargo will be discharged prior to her departure for Lytteltoa to-night or to-morrow morning. THE WEST COAST BOAT. The Arahura, arrived at Greymouth at 11 o'clock this morning. At 10 o'clock tonight she sails on her return trip to Wellington, via Westpori and Nelson. She is due here from Picton on Wednesday. BUTTER FOR HOME. The Union Company's s.s. Corinna is due here tomorrow morning with 30,000 boxes of butter from Onehunga and New Plymouth. These are for transhipment to the Ruapehu, which sails on' Thursday next for London. COLLIERS. The collier Poherua is to sail this afternoon for Greymouth. . The Whangape and the Komata both leave at noon to-mon'ow; the former vessel for Lyttelton and the latter for Westport. The Waiporl takes, a cargo of coal from Westport to Sydney this week. The Rosamond brought 800 crates of cheese from Onehunga on Saturday. These .are for transhipment to the Ruapehu. The Star of India arrived in Wellington! from Wanganui ou Saturday, and the Matatua left port for Gisborne on the same day. There are 8000 bales of wool awaiting shipment for London at Port Chalmers by the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Matatua, which left Wellington for Gisborne on SaturdaySeveral other large lines of wool are also coming forward for shipment by other steamers bound for -London. Mr. Oscar Dillner, late of the Tarawera, has Joined the Island steamer Atua as acting chief engineer. > ■
