TREATY RATIFIED. -By Telecrap!:.— Preea Association.— Copyright NEW YORK, 25th February. The new United States-Japanese commercial treaty has been ratified by tho Senate. The Pacific Coast Senators withdrew j their active opposition after bearing President TaiVs assurance that no danger need be apprehended regarding Oriental iiruniLcration, as Japan had ' pledged her honour to prevent an in- ! flux of undesirable coolies, and also to 'enforce a rigid scrutiny of all passp&rte. The Ciilifomkui political parties announce their satisfaction at the ratification of the treaty. NEW TRADE ARRANGEMENT. MAY BE MADE~AT ANY TIME. (Received February 27, 8.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 26th February. The new JapMiesie Treaty does not alter the taa-iit provisions of the 1894 treaty, but a new trade arrangement may be made a,t any time 1 it is deemed | desirable. Such arrangement would pro- | bably follow on the lines of the [ Canadian Reciprocity Agreement.
