President Tait fixes 4th April as the date for the probable calling of an extra session of Congress to deal with the question of reciprocity between Canada and the United States. Mr, Taft has given up hope of passing the Reciprocity Agreement during the present session. STRONG SPEECHES IN U.S. • SENATE. NO RECOMMENDATION. NEW YOKK, 25th February. The Finance Committee of the United States Senate has reported the Reciprocity Bill without recommendations. Strong speeches -were made in opposition to the Bill, several Senators declaring that the Senate resented any attempt to fores it to pass the measure. In view of the opposition, displayed, the Bill has been placed on the file for consideration when the Senate so desires. This move of the- Senators means that an extra, session is unavoidable.
