Mr, Taft has given up hope of passing the Reciprocity Agreement during the present session. STRONG SPEECHES IN U.S. • SENATE. NO RECOMMENDATION. NEW YOKK, 25th February. The Finance Committee of the United States Senate has reported the Reciprocity Bill without recommendations. Strong speeches -were made in opposition to the Bill, several Senators declaring that the Senate resented any attempt to fores it to pass the measure. In view of the opposition, displayed, the Bill has been placed on the file for consideration when the Senate so desires. This move of the- Senators means that an extra, session is unavoidable.
