MANY HOUSES FLOODED.
A PANIC. HAVANA, 18th October. While the heavy storm was sweeping -over the city huge waves broke over the sea walls and flooded many houses. A panic arose on a report gaining currency that the disaster was the result of a tidal wave, and that many lives had been lost in the flooded area. Salvaging gear that was being got in position to raise the United States cruiser Maine, sunk in the harbour in 1898, i was swept away. FLOODS IN FLORIDA. A TOWN INUNDATED. (Received October 19, 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, 18th October. Simultaneously with the floods m Havana, the town of St. Augustine, Florida, was inundated.
