ELECTRIC CARS. In answer to Mr. Wilford as to what progress has been made in the building of electric cars 'for service on the Hutt Railway, the Minister stated in Parliament thi6 afternoon that the requirements of the Wellington-Hutt railway traffic were met by the suburban train services already running on the line, and would be added to from time to time as circumstances necessitate. It was Mr. Millar's intention to make experiments with a view to ascertaining what form of motor car was best adapted for the requirements of some of our lines which serve sparsely-populated districts, and the necessary arrangements were in hand. So far, however, as the building of electric cars for the Hutt railway was concerned, the investigations that had been made indicated that at the present time it was inadvisable to incur any expenditure in the direction of building such vehicles.
