RAILWAY TO MIRAMAR.
EXTENSION PREMATURE AT PRESENT. In answer to an enquiry by Mr. J. P. Luke as to the intention of the Government with reference to the extension of railway facilities to the locality herein mentioned, the Hon. J. A. Millar to-day stated : — The Government is aware of the large increase in population in the districts of Miramar and Evans Bay, and^ also of the increase of industrial development and shipping in Evans Bay, but considers what at present it would he premature to extend the railway from Te Aro to Miramar, a distance of three miles, which would cost, approximately, £150,000.
