FIRES.

A GISBORNE SCENE. [BY TELEGBAPH — PBZSS ASSOCIATION.}. GISBORNE, 17th October.. At half-past ten to-night a fire broka out in a four-roomed cottage in Greystreet, owned by the Hon. Captain Tucker, and occupied by Joseph Geddes and his wife. When the fire was discovered, Geddes' and his wife, oblivious to their danger, were, it is alleged, engaging in a drunken quarrel inside with the doors locked. A passer-by burst in the door and dragged the occupants out to the road, where they continued fighting until both were arrested. The house with all its contents was completely destroyed.
