NORTH-WEST PASSAGE.
CAPTAIN BERNTER'S EXPEDITION. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. OTTAWA, 24th July. Captain Bernier, who is in command of the expedition in the Government steamer Arctic, to annex unnamed lands j within the Arctic Circle, has been authorised to attempt tho North- West Passage, and there to plant the British flag. [Last year, under the auspices of the Canadian Government, Captain Bernier discovered and annexed various new Arctic islands, and some of his party found the North-West Passage.]
