NEW ZEALAND. SYNOPSIS OP THE PAST 48 HOURS The barometer fell slightly on Saturday afternoon, but rose steadily afterwards. Cold And changeable weather has prevailed with hard frosts in parts inland. Snow has fallen heavily in the South, and rain in many parts. The weather was stormy in the southernmost districts on Saturday evening, and a southeasterly gale is reported this morning at Cape Farewell Spit, but elsewhere the winds have been moderate to strong and variable.
