The ordinary Main Trunk mail train will depart from Thorndon at 12.15 p.m., and the extra express at 8.55 p.m. The New Plymouth mail will leave at 9.10 a.m., and the Napier mail at 10.50 a.m. The new times of arrival in Wei lington will be — From Auckland, 7.21 a.m. and 4.7 p.m. ; from New riymouth, 7.23 p.m.; fron- Napier, 5.15 ■p.m. The hours of departure and arrival of tho Wellington-Lyttelton steamers are not to bo changed. All the main train alterations, except the inward New Plymouth service, which remains unaltered, give more time to travellers to catch the steamers. Tho proposed increase of fares for ordinary long-distance trips (Id a mils second^claos, and l£d a mile firstclass, charged right through) will not come into force till after the holidays.
