AMATEUE ATHLETICS.
MEETING OF WELLINGTON CENTRE. , The Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met last night, Mr. W. Coffey presiding. The City Council advised that it approved the request that the centre should have the use of the Basin Reserve on the 29th January, and on two other Saturdays — one in February and one in MaTch. The Petone Junior Club wrote in reference to encouragement of schoolboys to enter for races, and intimated that it would introduce special boys' events in its sports. The club said it could not undertake to establish a juvenile ■ branch at present. An application was received from the Wellington Catholic Club that Saturday, the 19th March, be allotted for its annual sports. Consideration of the matter was deferred. It was mentioned that there was every prospect of Wheatley and Davis visiting the Dominion early next, year. Disoussion on the proposed visit and on the Auckland championships was postponed until official information was received. Permission was granted the Wanganui Amateur Athletic Club to hold a sports •jieeting on Boxing Day.
