*Xhe final for the junior fours of the Petone Rowing Club was contested yesterday evening, when Drummond's crewdefeated Newell's. The trustees of the Baptist Church at Brooklyn have decided to invite tenders next week for the erection of a new church in accordance with plans that have been prepared by Mr. H. T. Johns. The design will be of Gothic elevation. It is expected that the proposed church will seat 300 persons plus the accommodation that several class-rooms and vestry will afford. ' This morning a painful accident befel a man named W. Johnson, employed at the Gear Company's manure works, Petone. He was engaged using a hot-water hose, when lie slipped, and the jet of boiling water turned upon him, severely scalding his chest and abdomen. Medical aid was secured, and, after attention, Johnson was removed to his home, where he is doing as well as can be expected. A decree nisi, to be made absolute in three months, has -bee,n issued by Mr Justice Edwards, in the case in which Catherine Ann Dwyer petitioned for a decree nullifying her marriage with Alfred Michelli, on the grounds that prior to the ceremony of marriage with her respondent wag already married, and that his wife at the time was alive. Costs on the lowest scale were allowed. Mr. T. M. Wilford appeared for the petitioner. It is hoped that in the near future New Zealand will again be represented at the Marathon games. With a view to sending a team, the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association has suggested to affiliated centres that all club members should be asked to pay a capitation fee of 3d or 6d. At last night's meeting of the local centre it was mentioned that a levy of 6d would return about £58, and consequently in three years there would be a sum of over £150 | available to defray the expenses of two j runners. The matter has been referred to the various clubs for consideration. Judgment was reserved by Mr. Justice Chapman, yesterday afternoon, in the case of Elizabeth AJlardice and others, who sought a revision of the bequests in the will of the late James Allardice, who it was alleged had married twice, and had not made adequate provision for his first family. The defendants were the executive and trustees of the will (Agnes Allardice and Thos. H. G. Lloyd), represented by Mr. D. M. Findlay. Mr. F. B. Sharp appeared for six infant members of the second family, and Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C., with him Mr. S. A. Atkinson, was for the plaintiffs. £10 in Prizes. — Baxter's simple Tracing Competition.
