FINE WEATHER PROBABLE. MANY VISITORS ARRIVING. [BX TELEGRAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] • PALMERSTON N., This Day. After two day ( s' continuous r.iin, the morning Juroke line and clear, and there 'is now every prospect of settled weather for the Manawatu Show, which commences to-morrow. An aimy of men is at work at the grounds, preparing and arranging exhibits, and the display is expected to bo well forward by the time fixed for the opening. Visitors are already coming into the town, including many from Auckland. The cheapness and 'convenience of ci-riiage over tho Main Trunk line have resulted^in a very fair representation of stock from the Waikato pastures, for the first time in the history of tho Manawatu Show. The art department is specially strong this year, the exhibits coming from as far South as Dunedin. The entries are so numerous that they have been accommodated in a section of the machinery hall. The art piize-list will probably be available this morning. . ART SECTION. . i Mr. E. W. Payten, of the Elam School of Art, Auckland, made the awards in the art section this morning. Wellington, as usual, has a vwonderiully varied and highly meritorious collection, and carried off the bulk of the prizes, but in many instances where there is competition Wellington came off second best. Palmerston Technical School takes four out of five awards in landscape. WAIKATO DELEGATION. j A strong delegation of Waikato settlers has been appointed to officially represent thai district at the show. They include Mr. John Fif-her (president of the Waikato Central A. and P. Association), and Messrs. R. Fisher, E. Allen, J. Allwell, Norman Banks, R. Reynolds, G. 15. Simpson, and C. Jarrett.
