WONDERLAND.
Wonderland will be open to-morrow afternoon and evening, when the various attractions will be open to the public. At night the chute, toboggan, castle, helter-skelter, kiosk, summer-house, rotunda, and gardens will be illuminated.
The Ayhereabouts of a young man named B. B. Todd-Straehan, who, it is said, was to have been married to-day to a Wellington lady, is being enquired for by the police. He arrived in "New Zealand about five months ago from the Old Country, and had been staying at Barrett's Hotel. He had been employed as a clerk in a local office. On Thursday morning he disappeared, and since then has not been seen or heard from. He is a native of Scotland, sft lOin or llin in height, of medium build, ruddy complexion, clean shaven, dark curly hair, and was dressed in a dark green suit, hard black hat, and tan shoes when he | was last seen in the city. In the Magistrate's Court to-day, Hallenstein Bros., Ltd., sued Fredeiick Kilminsler for 9s 6d, in connection Avith (he price of a refit of a coat. Judgment v.as for defendant. Mr. Buddie was for' plaintiffs,- and Mr. P. W. Jackson ior defendant. • All clocks in sawmills of New Zealand bhould be kept al meun time, urged a timber workei at the Conference to-day. He said everybody knew iho sawmill clock was so many minutes hours ahead. In some ' districts, of ur.li the clocks were as much as ; .jurs ahead. First of all, said anciLci- delegate, lot every sawmill have a clock. Another explained it was necessary to have the clocks ahead in order that workers might have time to sharpen their saws before dark. "Why not call it jhalf-past six, if you're going to start at 6.30?" pertinently asked another delegate. A motion that the clocks should bo kept at mean time was carried by v majority.
