THE SESSION. TO-MORROW'S OPENING.
FORECAST OF THE GOVERNOR'S SPEECH. As the few days' sitting of Parliament in June last ranks as a session, tomorrow's function.' by his Excellency the Governor will be officially known, as the opening of the second session of the seventeenth Parliament. Of necessity, owing to tho limited accommodation available, the opening will be shorn of much of its attractiveness inside the legislative chamber, but outside there will be the usual ceremonial proceedings which never fail to ; draw the attention of large numbers of the public. Lord Plunket will leave the vice-regal office, in what was formerly the Ministerial residence, in Moles- ■ worth-street, and under escort of the Heretaunga Mounted Rifles, will drive to the Legislative Council Chamber, where he is due at 2.30 p.m. The Royal New Zealand Artillery will provide the guard of. honour, the Garrison. Band will take its usual part in the proceedings, and in addition a naval detachment from H..M.S. Prometheus will be present. A royal salute will be fired from the Esplanade Saluting Battery. The customary formalities will be observed. When his Excellency has taken his seat in the Council Chamber, members of the Lower House will be asked to attend and hear the Governor's Speech — or speeches.
