TARANAKI-STREET METHODIST CHURCH.
The Quarterly meeting of the officials and managers of the above church was held last evening, when the accounts and reports of the various departments of church work were reviewed. There was a representative attendance, under the chairmanship of the Key. S. J. Serpell. The stewards weie able to report a credit balance on the* working of the past quarter. The record of work accomplished by the deaconesses of Tory and Aro-street Missions was of an encouraging nature, arjd. received the warm approbation of the meeting. Reports of the Sabbath School and Endeavour Societies were also of an encouraging nature. By a hearty and unanimous vote, the Revs. S. J. Serpell and J. R. Clark were invited to remain for another year to labour in the circuit. Testimony was borne to the faithfulness and devotion to duty of the rev. gentlemen. Messrs. G. Williams and W. H. Bennett were appointed .circuit representatives to the District Synod to be held at Levin next month. Satisfaction was expressed at the completion and successiul opening of a new church at Brooklyn.
Victoria College students intend forming a swimming club, and it is hoped to establish branches both at Thorndon and Te Aro.
