WORK IN READINESS. Consideration v^is given by Cabinet this morning to Wte requirements of the unemployed. It was announced later that the Labour Department would on Monday be prepared to put 'on some twenty to forty men on bushfelling on the Rangitntau block,, which is to be setnside for retrenched civil servants, and on railway works in various parts of the Dominion. Tba general idea is that the vorks thus provided shall be. ar- | ragged So that theie will be no necessity I fof sending men from one end.'of the j colony to the other. As far as possible, each district am'll be made to provide work for its unemployed, if they care to go into the- country, and first consideration will be paid to clean-ing the JRangilatau block, which is to provide ! settlement for those civil servants' who have severed their connection with the Service, and desire, to make a fresh start on the land.
