Sir James Mills, managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, will leave Wellington for Dunedin 10-night. The Hon. Sidney Joicey, who has beenin Wellington for some time, will leave for Sydney by the Manuka next Friday. Mr. H. W. Shovtt, auctioneer for Shortt, Limited, has been laid up for the past ten days with an aggravated throat trouble. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ballance Parsons, of Wanganui, will leave for Sydney by the Manuka on Friday, and travel to London by the Macedonia. Mr. R. Goombes, of the Sydney Referee, is due here from Sydney on Wednesday. He will proceed to Wanganui to witness the sculling championship contest. Professor Frederick Moore, A.R.A.M., who has been appointed examiner to the Associated Board, R.A.M. and E.C.M., for the Commonwealth, has arrived in Dunedin, from Melbourne. Mr. Albert Moore, the well-known commercial traveller, who has been confined to his house at Brooklyn for several weeks, is now suffering from a severe form of typhoid fever. Mr. T. R. Say well, agent for the. Public Trustee at Wanganui, who same to Wellington to attend the opening of the new Public TTust Office, returned to the North to-day. Mr. G. C. Russell, (son-in-law of tha late Mr. E. W. Mills), who has been farming at Gembrook, forty miles from Melbourne, since ho left Wellington some years ago, has been oit a visit to this city. He will return to Austi-alia next Friday. On Saturday last Captain Henry Kraeft, late harbour-master at Napier, died at Napier. Forty years ago the late Captain Kraeft settled in Hawkes Bay, uhere, in the sixties and .seventies, he was engaged in the shipping trade between Wellington and Napier. Subequently he became harbour-master, and, later still, master of a dredge. Mr. Phillips, who was Resident Magistrate for thirty years in Auckland, celebrated his seventy-eighth birthday on the 11th instant. He has at various times, according to the Star, filled the office of Mayor (being the first to have the honour of that position), town clerk, returning officer, and President of the Hebrew Synagogue. Mr. Phillips, who at present resides in Sydney, enjoys good health, though he is nearly blind. The Lyttelton boat will take from Wellington to-night a large number of delegates to the New Zealand Allianco meeting and Colonial No-license Convention, which are to open at Christchurch to-morrow. Among those leaving aro Mr. Wesley Spragg (Auckland), Mr. A. S. Adams (Dunedin), who are both, in Wellington ; Messrs. Ilelyer, A. R. Atkinson, A. J. Bennet, J. Brown, and Strong, and Revs. W. J. Comrie (Presbyterian), W. J. Williams (Methodist), and A. Dewdney (Baptist).
