The Perth polico are congratulating themselves on the capture of a dangerous criminal, of whose identity they nad no suspicion when they arrested him. Late on the mght of the 11th, wliilo ; searching for a man who had tried to rob a till, they found him concealed in ' a yard among tanks and boilers, and after a sharp struggle handcuffed him. At the station he was identified as ftdward Chainley, alias Tsveedley, alias ■ Turney, alias M'Grath, alias Woods, ' For over twelve month 1 ! past ho haa ■ evaded the police, who have hecn searching for him under a warrant for having broken out of gaol. While on • the way to the station Chainley asked permission to smoke, and on this being given the man made an cffoit to get his hands into his trousers pockets. _ Con--stable Moorhouso essayed to assist hint in that, and puhyd out a fully-loaded five-chambered re\olvcr. After the prisoner had been scaiclicd at the polico station, tho charge-room wore the- aspect of an interesting museum. From \arious portions of nis wearing japparel there wore produced detonators, gelignite fuse, all sorts of minute files nnd house-breaking implements, a dozen gold ringp, a lady's bangle, a gentleman's gold watcb and chain, aD open-faced gold watch, and various other articles.'
