THE WRECKED BARQUE.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT. TO THB EDVCOB. . Sir, — On behalf of the survivors of the- crew of the ill-fated barque Woollahra, I wish to return thanks to the press for publishing, ana the ladies and gentlemen who so promptly and generously ■ responded to my appeal. The list of donations and donors being so lengthy, it would be impossible to enumerate them, and as most of these ladies and gentlemen desire to a'emain incognito, I must thank them -collectively. Each surviving member of the ship's company has now received a full outfit, including uncl&rclothing, duplicate and triplicate, and > are now in a better position to join in the fight "for existence than when they appeared after havingbeen thrown out of the ja\vs,of death, bruised, naked, and bleeding, oil tho inhospitable beach at Terewhiti, with a fourteen-mile tramp before them, piactically barefoot and famishing, ' tho few rags they were wearing being saturated with the icy-cold water of that fearful Sunday- night. I would have acknowledged these magnificent gifts before, but the parcels having continued to arrive till a late hour last night, I could not distribute them until this morning. Although comparatively w,ellclothed and comfortable, some of ithe men are still penniless, and as they have lost amongst their effects their discharges, they will have to obtain a permit Tiefore they can join a ship, such permit costing , five shillings. Any small donations sent to me at the Rest will be duly acknowledged and used on their behalf.— l am, etc., J H. WEARN, Supt. Sailors" Rest, Customhouse-quay.
