An attempt is to be made to employ aboriginals as canecutters on Queensland plantations. Eight single men and a^
mairied couple are going from the Baramba Mission Station to Geraldton. Tho men will receive Is 6d a day, and aie under agreement. Queensland is now considered frea from any immediate likelihood of a peiiod. of deaith. The area from the Tropic of Capricorn to the New South Wales border seldom looked better at th: > season of the year. Sheep, camels, and horses are in good condition. Orders for woolpacks for the coming season are kiiown to be considerably larger than those of last year.
