MDLLE. DOLORES AND CLARA BUTT.

The forthcoming visit of Antonia Dolores, the favourite soprano, is already beginning to be talked about in musical circles. It is wonderful the immense popularity this artist enjoys throughout tho colony, and it seems that each time the prima-donna visits us the more popular she becomes with us. It is j about four years ago since Dolores gave her last tour here, but it has only caus- I ed us to want her more and more The coming tour will commence in Sydney, on the I,lth of August. Dolores treatment of some of the most difficult songs of the present day is wonderful in tho minutest degree, and we now hear that since last visiting us she has added Greman Lieder to her already extensive repertoire. This will enable the artist to- sing in no less than six different languages— French, German Italian, Spanish, Russian, and English It is definitely stated that the New Zealand tour will commence in Wellington in the Town Hall on the Ist of December, after which the artist will visit Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin. The number of concerts to be given in New Zealand will be about fifteen. Last mail from London brings word from Mr.. Nevin Tait that Mdlle. was in London, and was to have appeared at the Ohappel Ballad concert; and after that she was to have visited Ireland for a short tour of eleven concerts, and the appearances were to be confined to Dublin and Cork. Next year wo are to bo given the opportunity of hearing what is regarded the greatest contralto of the world, Madame Clara Butt. The tour will commence in Melbourne on or about September next year, and will embrace a series of twenty-five concerts in the leading cities of tho Commonwealth and New Zealand. Both the Dolores and Clara Butt tours will be under the sole direction of J. and N. Tait, of Melbourne, and these people advise that they have made arrangements with Josef Hofman, the brilliant pianist, to visit Australia and New Zealand in June next year. Hofman is regarded as being one of tho most brilliant and accomplished pianists, and his successes in America and on the Continent are remarkable. He is still a very young man, but is noted for his marvellous rendering of Chopin.
