Weather.— B, blue sky, be the atmosphere dear or heavy; C, clouds, passing clouds; D, drizzling rain; F, foggy; G, gloomy, dwk weather; H, hail; h, lightnin B ; M, misty; O, o\ercaßt, the whole sky covered with thick clouds ; P, passing showers ; Q, fqu»lly ; a, rain, continued rain; S, snow; T, thunder; U, ugly, threatening appearance. WEATHER FORECAST FOR 24 HOURS PROM 9 a.m 10-DAY. Wind.— Strong to gale from between north' east and north and west at most places in tho North Island, and after 12 hours from between north and east and south-east in the South Island. Unromctcr.— Fall everywhere. Sea. — Heavy on coast of North Island and on eastern coast north of East Cape and southward of Napier. Moderate between East Cape and Napier. Considerable on western coast of South Island. Tides. — High on east coast north of East Cape and southward of Napier; also on western coast of North Island; good southward of Cope Farewell; moderate all other ports. Rain is to be expected northward Of Queenstown and Nugget Point. Warning signals for northerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tintiri, East Cape, and Cape Campbell, and for easterly gales at Cape Foulwind, Farewell Spit, and Nugget Point. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS. Steadily falling barometer everywhere, but it has also risen a. little in the southernmost districts. Moderate to strong northerly winds have been prevalent northward* of Hokitik.i and Lyttelton, and southerly winds since about midnight in other parts of the countiy. Rain has fallen generally.
