AUCKLAND HOSPITAL. CONTINUATION OF THE ENQUIRY.

[bt telegraph— press association.] AUCKLAND, 21st October. The Commission of Enquiry into the management of Auckland Hospital continued its sittings to-day. Dr. Lewis generally condemned the hospital management. He said the opening of an intestine in White's case was very bad surgery. He objected to numerous wealth^ patients being attended at the hospital, thus taking practice away from outside doctors. He expressed himself in favour of Hospital Boards being separated from Charitable Aid administration, and being partly elective by popular franchise, and partly nominated by Government, with one representative of the medical profession. me Commission adjourned till Monday, at the conclusion of Dr. Lewis's evidence.

The weekly meeting of the Star of Wellington Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held on Thursday evening in Richard's Hall, Bro. J. Brockie, C.T., presiding. Tho Rising Star Juvenile Temple, under thsir supei> intendent (Bro. Rigarlsford), were officially received. The following contributed tq the programme : Sisters H. Morris, Henderson, and M'Donald, Bigs. Lambert, Stephens, Barnett, and Pearce. Light refreshments were handed round. The Harmony Committee for the new quarter consists of Bros. Sparkes, Stephens, Brockie, and Miles, and Sisters Sparkes, Lambert, Barnett, Woolston, and K. Harris.
