CYCLING. HILL-CLIMBING CONTESTS.
[bt telegraph— tress association.] • CHRISTCHURCH, 20th October. The Cye&ng Club's hill-elimbihg championships were held to-day, strong wind materially assisting competitors. The course was laid on the Cashmere-road, "on the Port Hills. In the first round of the cycling champioaship J. Arnst beat J. O'Connor, R. Arnst beat C. Mehentens, and E. J. Ritchie beat W. Walsh. Ritchie retired from the final, which was- won by J. Arnst. Tima, lmin 27sec. The motor-bicycle contest over the came course was won by.W. E. Thompson, on a 1$ horse-power Indian motor, which covered, the distance in 63|Bec.
