MIXED BATHING IN RUSSIA.
The little- seaside resort of Kullchulc, Russia, has been scandalised by rhe introduction of mixed bathing by vieitoi® from Odessa* Tho priests nnd. Puritan residents rcro denouncing " the lewd behaviour of the Odessa- devils," which, nevertheless, is drawing crowds, hundreds of peasants driving to Kultchuk to witness tho novelty. Father Znchrali, a local priest, is conducting on the beach a propaganda against mixed bathing. He wades into the water up to his armpits daily at noon, and solemnly curses tire sea for permitting Iho defilejnont. He has improvised a liturgy, Avhich includes tho following : " Arise, yo waves, and overwhelm those unchristian men and women, whose conduct makes the fishes blush." Needless to «.iy, tho propaganda is not succeeding. Father Zachrali offers to marry gratis youths and maidens who havo already lost their reputations by bathing together.
