A shocking accident ocourred in the country on Friday lust, the viothn ( being a young nmn named Gordon Jackson, Son of a well-known farmer nonr Retiwitk. He was engaged feeding a circular saw, when a heavy piece of wood rebounded with great force, striking Jackson in the abdomen and inflating severe Injuries. He died this morning. CHRISTOHURCH, This Day. Tho body of JesNte Charlotte Cole, a woman who hrtd been missing from Sydenkttin since Tuesday, was found in the Avon River last evening by a boy named William Culvert. The body fthowod slgtis of hftVHlg been in the water for some days. There were no marks of violence on tho body, and nothing to show how tile deceased got into* the river. AUCKLAND, 'this Dny.
