FIGHTING IN THE WEST.
LONDON, 12th November. In an engagement near Rustenburg, to the westward of Pretoria, Colonel Plumer's force repulsed 400 of General De la Rey's commando. Lord Methuen's troops surprised General Snyman, who besieged Mafeking, near Lichtenburg, forty miles south-east of the fome'r place, inflicting loss upon his following.
