SUNDRY JOTTINGS.
THE COURT GOING TO THE FAR WEST. (Received November 12, 8.55 a.m.) LONDON, 11th November. A Chinese official report announces that the Imperial Court is proceeding to Cheng-tu, capital oif the western province of Sze-chuen. [Cheng- tu is over a thousand miles as the crow flies from the sea-coast.] Belgium is seeking to acquire a strip of land at Tientsin, fox settlement. As the Russian seizure of territory at Tientsin is considered only temporary, Sir Ernest Satow, the British Minister, is refraining from protesting. Reuters correspondent at Tientsin reports that as the result of remonstrances Russia is transferring the Taku-Pekin railway to Count yon Waldersee, the Commander-in-Chief, who will transfer it to Mr. Kinder, the engineer who built the line.
