Encores followed each item, and the leading performers were recalled several times. Tbe fun of Messrs." Tom Leonard, Brown, and Collins provoked continuous laughter, Miss Eileen Boyd had an enthusiastic reception, and the clever intricate mechanism of Prof. Davy's marionettes delighted t\e audience. Another change of programme is announced for this evening, w.hen Eileen Boyd will make her farewell appearance. Miss Alice Layton, who according to ' report has been delighting Aucklanders with her singing, is to appear to-night. At the Choral Hall last night the attendance wa.s so la,rge that a considerable number of pafrons had to content themselves with standing room in, jany available corner. A capital programme was provided by the Fuller Bijou Company/and there was abundant evidence that the audience appreciated it. Messrs. Fred Bluets Horace Bent, and Wai. Cottier were to the fore as usual with comic songs and gags, and had to repeat most of their "turns." Sivroni's acrobatic agility was well received, and his knockabout and patter "turn" had to respond to repeated recalls. Miss Eva » Wilson, who is to make her final appearance to-night made a great hit with her seriocpmic songs, and the contributions of Miss' Amy Blackie, Percy James, and the rest of the company were warmly applauded. The Flying Jordans again performed clever feats, and they also will appear for the last time to-night, when an entirely new programme is promised. Mr. Dave Caston and Miss Lena Harvey, and Fisko, the youthful juggler, will be features in Monday's programme. The entertainment given at th^ Federal Theatre last night by Mr. Hooper's Variety Company was well patronised. The programme was a very attractive one. Kudarz, the illusionist, maintained the close attention of the audience with an exhibition of his skill. Tue Rosellea were as clever as eve.r with their perforniances on the trapeze, and a number of acrpbatic fea^s were also well done. The vocal items, parftoulajly those of little Maisie Edwards, werq well rec, ejved. The company will appear again to-night. The Self-Help Sopiety held its annual social gathering at the Forester' Hall last nigl% Proceedings began with a mothers' tea, afy which 120 sat down. The company consists of Miss Lili Sharp, a so- ■ prano whose name is not unfamiliar as a singer, M. Rafalewski, a violinist arid pianist of some note, and Mr. W. H. Williamson, tenor. The programmes will be of the popular order, and for this reason, and in view of the gilts possessed by the performers, the concerts should bp well patronised.
