HONE HEKE'S BANKRUPTCY

Though the bankruptcy of Hone Heke, M.H.R., which was brought about on the petition of Messrs. Campbell, Wellington, £45; Fred Earle, Auckland, about £50; Mrs. Moeller, Wellington, £36 9s ; proprietor of the Star Hotel, Auckland, £35; — Smith, Club Hotel, £22 ; — Andrew, Hokianga, £21; — Burke, Christchurch, £20; E. Button,. Auckland, £20; — Kennedy, Napier, £20; Edwd. Wm. Earp, Tawa Flat, £20; W. Carrot h, Whangarei, £20 ; King and Muir, Wellington, £19. ; — Field, Whangarei, £16; W. Jardine, Hokianga, £16; — Glover, Hokianga, £14; — Phillips, Dunedin, £11. The Union Bank of Australia is the only secured creditor, to which the debtor owes £77 12s 6d, the security being the Tepua property, near Kailtohe, Bay of Islands — about 25 acres, believed to be in the Native Lands. Court, and valued at £120. Other real estate shown in the statement i> the Tekohoa property, about 170 acres, restricted half interest* let to Hutchison Bros, for £10 per annum.
