Colonel Penton has received £50 from an anonymous donor and £5 from Mr. C. Reid, of Elderslie, both for the purchase of comforts for the Contingent on the voyage. While waiting at the Summit on Saturday op their way to camp at Greytown, the Boys' Institute Cadet Band played selections, while Lieut.-Commanding Browning went through the train, and took up a collection in aid of the Patriotio Fund. Result, £3 *7s Od, which we acknowledge the receipt of, and have placed to the credit of tbe fund. i Messrs. Whitcombe and Tombs, whose head office is in Christchurch, have contributed £100 to the Patriotic Fund there. The patriotism of the railway men in the Dunedin district is such that at s. meeting held on Saturday it was resolved that all members of the service should' be asked to subscribe to the relief fund a day's paj for January, and a minimum of , one shilling each subsequent pay day until the close of the war. The proposal is ,to be carried into effect in the Dunedin district. It is anticipated that the fund in Wellington will gain materially by the street collections. Over £-10 in small coins has already been taken from the collection b,oxes placed at Fitzgerald's corner. Seven parties of ladies posted in con« spicuous parts of Dunedin on Saturday collected £191 .10s 4d for the Patriotic Fund.
