«, The first match of the season for the Edwin Feather? took place on the Wellington Bowling Club's green yesterday, when the holders, Veitch, Cordoza, Mentipla\ r , and Ballinger (skip) were defeated by Drummond, Reitch, Lockie, and Churchward (skip) by 15 to 11. A diamond game for the Edwin Buckles was also played on the same green, Churchward and Ballinger defeating N. M'Leanand Bush by 25 to 9. Messrs. Menelaus & Riggs are making excellent progress with the erpction of the "Victoria Bowling Club's pavilion in Clare-mont-grove, and the building will be used for the first time at the opening of the club's season next Saturday week. In appearance it will resemble the Wellington Bowling Club's pavilion, but it will not be quite so large. The plans and specifications were prepared by Mr. W. Crichton. The Match Committees of the various clubs met last night, and arranged tha Pennant matches as follows :— On 10th December Wellington plays Newtown on the Victoria green, and Victoria plays Thorndon on the Wellington green. On 7th January Thorndon plays Wellington on the Newtown green, and Newtown plays Victoria on the Thorndon green. On 11th February Victoria plays Wellington on the Newtown green, and Newtown plays Thorndon on the Victoria green. Four rinks play from each club, the score to be the aggregate number of points. For the challenge rounds of the Wellington Bowling Club's Feather Badges the drawing resulted as follows : — Thorndon to play first on 22nd inst., then Victoria, Newtown, and Wellington in their order. The badges are at present held by the Wellington Club.
