WELLINGTON REFEREES' ASSOCIATION.
A special meeting of the Referees' Association was held last night, Mr. G. l^aohe in the chair. There was an unusually large attendance of members—the record so far in the history of the Association. The bylaws, which had been drafted by a sub-com-mittee and held over for consideration from the previous meeting, were finally adopted, and ordered to be printed. The following recommendations wore drawn up embodying the views of the Association for the approval of the Wellington Rugby Union at a conference of the two bodies this afternoon :—(1):—(1) The referee to forward a detailed report, including an expression of opinion as to punishment, not later than the Monday following the match ; (2) The enquiry to be held and decided on before the Saturday following; (3) The offender to be called before the Union and allowed to make a, statement; (4) The referee Jlo appear in person foe the purposes of (a) identification, (b) cross-examination of offender, if necessary; (5) No evidence to be admitted ; (6) The Association suggests that the minimum penalty be suspension of the offender for two championship matches of his team played following the offence.
