» NEW ZEALAND 31UGBT UNION. A meeting of tho "Commi 11 co of Management of the New Zealand itugby Union was held last evening. There sf ere present: —Messrs. A. T. Bate (Wellington), in the chair, J. 11. Gibbons (Auckland), A. T. Butchelor (West Coast), T. Morrison (Hawkes Bay), I. Hyams (Wanganui), M. ltoss (Otago), A. Laurensen (Poverty Bay), J. Wisuey (Southland), and A. M. De Costa (Hon. Secretary). A letter was read from the Taranaki Union nominating Mr. A. E. Clark as a Vice-President, tuVeMr. G. T. Bayly, who is now President of the New Zealand Union. The Taranaki' Union also wrote that the Canterbury Union had writteu that unless a sum of £25, which it had voted towards the expenses of tho Taranaki team which visited Christchurch in 1894, was refunded, a Canterbury team would not play in Taranaki this season. The Taranaki Union slated that it did not know until latety that there was a condition attached to tho Canterbury grant that the money should be refunded, and it asked the New Zealand Union if there was auy record in its books of such a proviso. The Secretary was directed to reply that it could not find any minute of such a promise. It was also decided to recommend Taranaki to apply to Canterbury for a copy of Mr. Uoben's written promise that the £25 should be refunded, and it was further resolved to suggest to Canterbury that it should include Tarauaki in its tour this season. A letter was read from the Wellington Referees' Association making certain recommendations. The Committee decided to reply that the letter should have come through the Wellington Union. Mr." J. P. Jacob, of the Clifton Club, Waitara, wrote asking the Union to arrange matters so that he and other seniora should not be required to travel out of their own district in order to play in senior matches. The action of tho Secretary in replying that the New Zealand Union oould only deal with disputes submitted by local unions was confirmed. The Secretary reported that he had not received any further communication in reference to the proposed visit of an English team. It was decided to ask the New South Wales Union if it had any objection to the New Zealand Union writing to the promoter* of the team, suggesting the inclusion of this colony in the tour. It was also decided to ask the New South Wales "Union if it had any information as to the proposed movements of the team. The Hon. Treasurer reported that the Union's overdraft had at last been extinguished.
