ORGANISATION IN THE MEAT TRADE.
A meeting of persons interested in the proposal to form a Frozen Meat Association here was held at the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. Mr. A. de B. Brandon, President of the Chamber of Commerce, was iv the chair, and Messrs. D. Sladden (Wellington Meat Export Company), 1\ TV. Rutherford (Nelson Bros.), Jameson (Longburn), and C. Pharazyu were also pYesent. Mr. S. Carroll acted as secretary. The Chairman read the correspondence from tho recently formed Cbristchurch Association, suggesting the formation of an Association here. The object of the Associiition was, broadly put, to protect the interests of producers aud shippers engaged in the frozen meat trade. In«reply to a circular on the subject sent out by the Chamber of Commerce here, a number of replies had been received. This was the history of the movement up to date, and it was now for those present to appoint a chairman and decide on what action they would take On the motion of Mr. Sladden, Mr. Pharazyu was elected Chairman. The meeting then went into committee.
