A BANK FAILURE Is a possible] occurrence. Ogden's Guinea Gold Cigarettes never fail to give satisfaction. Pure and mild. — Ai)VT. CHRISTMAS AT THE D.I.C. Old Father Christmas, who annually delights our little folk, will arrive at the D.I.C. to-morrow^ afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. His immense Christmas Tree is again erected in the Company's spacious furniture room, which in the meantime is a veritable enchanted chamber, filled to overflowing with every imaginable kind of toy. The Fancy Goods Department, upstairs, owing to the enlarged accommodation, will not be subject to crush, and visitors can make their purchases in comparative peace and comfort. A special feature of this department is a stupendous variety of books of almost every author, all of which are sold by the D.I.C. at London publishers' list price. The ever cheapening of literature is here evidenced by some thousands of volumes^ of standard novels and works in good serviceable linen covers, admirably printed, and sold at Is each. Verily, for good, sensible, and oheap Christmas presents the public should patronise the D.l.C— Advt.
The average reporter shrinks from little in the descriptive line, and light-heartedly tackles such diverse topios as a oattle show, a musical performance, or the most abstruat questions of political eoonony ; but when it comes to Riving an adequate idea of a stock like Pringle's his resolution falter*. " Pringle " now becomes a household word throughout tho city. What visions of delightful novelties the very name recalls ! However, to descend to plain pro&o, we may be allowed to briefly indicate a few only of tho leading features of a stock as unequallod for richness of variety as it is for tweet reasonableness in prices. No country producing wares suitable for colonial tastes has been overlooked in the diligent and thoughtful endeavour of the proprietor to give Iris customers tho maximum of oboice. Delightful centary-old designs in Benares brssuwork, sandalwood, and inlaid nick-nacks conjure up visions of India's toeming million*. Quaint, dainty, and artistic wares in galore come from progressive Japan, as marvellous for their artistic conception as thoy axe jn the moderateness of their price*. Stately Vienna, gay Paris', stolid Berlin, and still more stolid England each contributes to the perfection of a display only to be seen at " Pringle's." On the whole, we can with strict veracity and the utmost confidence recommend an early visit to Pringle'a by all who are interested in the question of providing Christmas eifts.— Advt.
