[PKESS ASSOCIATION.] Madbid, 9th December. The Carlist members of the Chamber of Deputies in the Cortes are promoting a popular demonstration against President M'Kinley. The Carlists favour Cuban autonomy, and the movement is directed against the attitude of the United States towards Cuba as outlined in President M'Kinley*s Message to Congress. Washington, 9th December. Replying to complaints with reference to an American filibustering expedition to Cuba, Mr. Lyman Gage, Secretary of the United States Treasury, aaid that if Spain had frustrated half as many expeditions as the American Government had stopped, none would have landed in Cuba.
