Sent to Gaol for Shelter. [BY TELEGRAPH-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, 20th November.

Constable Murray brought down from fotorna a man named Dnnoan Campbell, ¦ ho was an inmato of the Coatley Home at .'psom, but who left the institution and walked to Hotorua. Constable Murray liioked up the man, who is 80 years old, in a destitute condition. The authorities of the Auokland Charitable Aid Board were oommunioated with, but replied that as the man had left the Home of his own aocord they oould do nothing. Campbell was then brought before Justices at Rotorua, who sentenoed him to six weeks' imprisonment in Mount Eden without hard labour. This was done to shelter the man, who.it ia stated, is an ex-oaptain in the Imperial Harvioe in the 9th Regiment, and in receipt of a pension. .
