At the Supreme Court, Thomas White pleaded Guilty to a charge of breaking and entering, and was sentenced (o 12 months' hard labour. George Stanton and William Aldridge, for stealing tobacco from the warehouse of F. Trent, each received a sentence of two years' imprisonment ; Wm. Kennedy and George Humphries, breaking and entering, eaoh 18 months' imprisonment; John Walsh and Thomas Smith, stealing liquorß from the refreshment room at Addington saleyards, six months eaoh. A cottage at Rangiora, owned by W. M'Manamara, was destroyed by firo last night. It was insured in the Liverpool London, and Globe offioe for £100. A seven-roomed house at Springfield, owned by W. Dorman, wai burned down yesterday afternoon. It was insured for £100 in the National offioe, and the furniture for £100 in the same offioe. Dunedin, This Dat. At the Magistrate's Court-, Horace and Benjamin Kett pleaded Guilty, and were fined to the extent of a nominal penalty for Belling an exoursion railwayitioket.
