At a troll-attended meeting held at the Tory-street Foresters' Hall last night, the Ber. J. Crewes. in an address on Heads," .pleaded for technical education as against the University system. Resolutions were oarried by the meeting as follows :— l. That as we infer from Dr. Maogregor's report that the lunatio asylums of the colony are dangerously orerorowded, this meeting would urge the Government to arrange f or proper classification of the insane in the asylums, and to provide inoreased asylum accommodation immediately; and, further, should the new building on Mount Cook be found suitable for temporary accommodation for harmless luuatios, we would approve of its being used for suoh purpose. 2. That this meeting would suggest to the Government that should the Government decide to grant the Mount Cook Gaol cud grounds to be used for educational purposes, it should '. be as a Teohnioal College, to be the centre of a proper system of technical ednoation for the oolony. 3. That the foregoing resolutions be forwarded to the Hon. the Minister, for Education, to be presented to the Government. ' ' W. 7. Snortt will sell to-morrow, furniture andnundrie*.
