Though the weather was cold, it was beautifully fine for the Hawkes Bay Jockey Jlub's Winter Meeting, and the attendance was very large. The amount put throngh the totalisator was .65171. Uareohal Niel looked a likely winner, but at the double took the wrong course, and was ont of it._ Chrystal was then lelt with the lead, and, increasing his advantage, won by three lengths.
