At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, it was resolved that the committoe address a remonstrance to the Commissioner of Taxes against the system which has been adopted of. sending round accountants to make a general inspection of the books of the mercantile community ; and also protest against the inquisitorial nature of the forms sent out by tho Department lor income returns.
