A Manukau correspondent writes under bo-day's date as follows : —The weather has been bitterly cold the last two days, the surrounding hills being 1 covered with Enow, and some falling in the township. This, togother with the influenza, which is very prevalent just now, pieces us in a very unenviable condition. We are CPntreiug onr hopes on the starting of our creamery, the building being jabt completed and the boiler on the ground. The ongine and maohinery are lying at the station, and Messrs. Luke are expected daily to commence the erection of the same. The oreimery will bo ready to start quite as aoon as the milk supply will be reidy. Mr. Alex. Parker, who was in charge of the Union Stoney Creek Creamery last season, has been appointed manager of this one, the separating being done at so umoh per 100 gallons. The farmers are busy with the erection of now sheds, enlarging their old ones, and otherwise preparing for the season. From all appearancos dairying has not come any too soon to onr rescue, as in addition to the 'diseases so prevalent amongst sheep, farmers will shortly have to contend with the pest of stoats and weasels One farmer tfear i evin lost 40 lambs one night by these vermin, there being simply a puncture on throat or shoulder to show how tha pests had done their deadly work.
